Hangtight is a smart mobile app that empowers users to go on meaningful hangouts with friends, family, and colleagues. It aspires to eliminate common feelings of isolation and loneliness by seamlessly connecting friends through AI-powered recommendations. I joined a team of UX/UI designers tasked with designing a minimum viable product.
We began the design thinking process by first empathizing with users and identifying any pain points in coordinating hangouts. User research was conducted to understand the top needs of the user and what frustrations they experience in planning activities.
Following user research, competitive and SWOT analyses were conducted to examine industry standards and analyze incentive programs -- such as Starbucks Rewards, DashPass, Amazon Prime, and Rakuten, among others -- to attract and retain users.
Following user research and competitive analyses, we began designing the navigational hierarchy of the app in the form of sitemaps and user flows. I was tasked with designing sketches and low fidelity wireframes based on the information architecture and user flows.
In conjunction with sketching and wireframing, I also developed an initial color palette and style guide based on Hangtight’s primary green color. This iteration expanded upon their brand color to include contrast and background colors, in addition to error and success states.
As part of the Hangtight team, each UX designer played a specific role and function in the development of a minimum viable product. In my role, I designed and developed low fidelity wireframes based on the information architecture and user flows of other team members. In addition, I provided an expanded color palette and recommended typography based on Hangtight’s primary color scheme.
